Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) Testing
A backflow prevention device serves as a specialised safeguard, specifically designed to protect your drinking water from potential contamination. It acts as a barrier, preventing the reverse flow of wastewater or polluted water into your water system.
Backflow incidents can occur when the pressure in the mains water supply falls below the pressure in the pipes on your property. This can happen due to various reasons, most commonly through back siphonage caused by a vacuum in the water main. If your property's water supply comes into contact with pollutants or contaminants, they can be drawn back into the main water line.
To prevent such occurrences, a backflow prevention device is essential. These devices require mandatory annual testing conducted by a licensed plumber who is trained in backflow prevention techniques.
Upon completion of the testing, you will receive a detailed test report. This report serves as certification that the backflow prevention device has been thoroughly and suitably tested. It will be submitted directly to your local governing body council, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs) are specifically designed to blend hot and cold water together at a predetermined temperature, typically set at 60°C. These valves find primary usage in healthcare facilities, aged care centers, hospitals, and nursing homes to prevent scalding incidents.
The valves operate by employing a sensor and a thermostatic element. The sensor detects any changes in the temperature of the incoming hot and cold water. Furthermore, the valve takes into consideration the distance between itself and the outlet to compensate for any temperature loss that may occur.

Regular servicing is essential for these valves to minimize the risk of failure. Tama's team provides a comprehensive servicing schedule and delivers a commissioning and maintenance report upon completion of the tests.
